Central Japan Railway Company

Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) commenced operation on April 1987 upon the privatization of the Japanese National Railways.

The core of JR Central’s operation is the Tokaido Shinkansen, the main transportation artery linking Japan’s principal metropolitan areas of Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka,

and the company also operates a network of conventional lines centered on the Nagoya and Shizuoka areas (the middle part of Japan).

Furthermore, JR Central is promoting the Chuo Shinkansen project (between Tokyo Metropolis and Osaka City) using the maximum 581 km/h speed erconducting Maglev system to continually carry out the mission of linking Japan’s principal metropolitan areas.
