2012 Annual Summit / Seamless Transport:Making Connections

The Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission develops transport policies for the European Union to ensure efficient mobility in a single European transport area, for the benefit of citizens and the economy.
It monitors the implementation of EU legislation, proposes new laws and co-finances transport infrastructure and research.
In March 2011, the European Commission adopted a new strategy (White Paper) to ensure mobility in the medium and long term. At the same time this strategy will significantly reduce Europe's dependence on oil and cut carbon emissions in transport by 60% by 2050.
