Yoshiyuki KASAI is chairman and representative director of Central Japan Railway Company (JRC), which is the owner, operator and innovator of the Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train system linking the areas of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka and the developer of the 581 km/h speed Super Conducting Maglev System.
He joined the Japan National Railway (JNR) in 1963 and was appointed President in 1995, Chairman in 2004, and succeeded in listing the company’s share on the stock exchange. He is Chairman of the “Special Committee on Space Policy” and has published four books including Japanese National Railways, It’s Break-up and Privatization (2007). He earned his B.L. from the University of Tokyo in 1962 and his M.S from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1969.
