Bernard Meyer

Bernard Meyer is the managing director of Meyer Werft, headquartered in Papenburg and one of Germany’s largest shipyards. He studied naval architecture in Hanover and Hamburg before joining Meyer Werft in 1973 and helping the company to enter the cruise ship market in the early 1980s. A former president of the Community of European Shipyards' Association, Mr. Meyer serves on the Executive Committee of VSM, the German Shipbuilding Association, which he presided between 2004 and 2006. Bernard Meyer is the first shipbuilder ever to receive the Werner-von-Siemens-Ring, Germany’s highest technology award.
