Best Practice at Border Crossings: A Trade and Transport Facilitation Perspective

The main purpose of the event is to present key messages of the Handbook of Best Practices at Border Crossings: A Trade and Transport Facilitation Perspective which aims to assist the 56 OSCE participating States/UNECE member States in the development of more efficient border and customs policies through the promotion of existing best practices in this field.

The Handbook emphasises the need for governments to find a better balance between border security and trade facilitation. The speakers will highlight experiences from across the region of how border crossings procedures for cargo can be made increasingly efficient and less time consuming, thereby facilitating seamless trade and transport while at the same time reducing the possibilities for corruption, illicit trafficking, and transnational crime and terrorism.
