Leo Varadkar is Ireland’s Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport. He was first elected in 2007, and initially appointed to the Fine Gael Front Bench as Spokesperson on Enterprise, Trade and Employment. In June 2010, he was appointed to the Communications, Energy and Natural Resources portfolio.
Following the 2011 General Election, he was appointed as Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport by Taoiseach Enda Kenny in March 2011.
Mr. Varadkar studied medicine in Trinity College, Cambridge, in the United Kingdom, and was elected to full membership of the Irish College of General Practitioners in 2010.
